FoRS priorities for the Czech Presidency of the EU

Main priority: CSO Development Effectiveness

Czech NGDOs and FoRS, together with their partner organisations in the Czech Republic, in
the EU and other regions of the world will reflect on the effectiveness of their own development
activities and will try to formulate their own principles of development effectiveness. Through
these efforts, FoRS would like to contribute to the global process of assessing effectiveness,
coordinated by the Open Forum for CSO Development Effectiveness
(www.cso-effectiveness.org).

 

Other priority topics, from the development effectiveness perspective

Good Governance
Creation of a forum for political debate between organisations active in the field of development
cooperation and organisations working in pro-democracy processes and human rights
promotion; searching for common understanding regarding the relation between development
and democracy.

Development Education
Discussions on effectiveness of development education and awareness raising (DE&AR),
formulation of basic principles of effectiveness of DE&AR projects, contribution to the adoption
of the National strategy for development education in the Czech Republic.

Sustainable Technologies for Sustainable Development
Reflection on the current state of use of sustainable energy in development cooperation,
identification of main priorities for effective use, effective management on the community level,
and search for new ways of effective application of sustainable technologies by the
development actors.

Migration and Development
A comprehensive insight into relation between international migration and development, a
broader discussion in the Czech Republic between non-governmental sector working with
migrants and in development, public administration institutions, financial sector and migrants
themselves with a special focus on remittances and optimising possibilities for international
money transfers.

Agriculture and Food Security
Discussion on effectiveness of aid to agriculture. Identification of ways ahead for donors and
practitioners to improve and monitor aid effectiveness.

Gender and Development
Discussion about the linkage of development effectiveness and the gender equality principle. Reflection on the NGDOs’ contribution to greater gender equality and women’s empowerment.
