People in Need is seeking for Logistician to the humanitarian mission in Ukraine

People in Need (PIN) is the Czech Republic based NGO working in relief and development sectors. See more at In early August 2014 PIN opened humanitarian response in Eastern Ukraine and the program is rapidly expanding. Focus is given on the assistance to the IDPs, returnees and population living in the contested areas in the sectors of food security, shelter & winterization and health. Total volume of the programs is up to 5 mil USD funded by OFDA, ECHO, UNHCR, WFP and private donors till March 2015. PIN is currently looking for an experienced coordinator for the shelter & winterization project consisting of individual shelters rehabilitation, winterization of IDPs centres, distribution of NFIs and related WASH activities.

Location: Ukraine (Slavyansk) with possibility of travel to the field (Donetsk)

Starting date: ASAP

Contract duration: 12 – 18 months

Main task of the logistician is to support the programs and mission operation in the areas of:

  • Managing procurement and purchases
  • Supporting and organizing supply delivery to implementation areas
  • Negotiations with local suppliers and supply contract management
  • Coordination, support and supervision of local operational team management
  • Fleet management – coordination and supervision of drivers, vehicles and their maintenance, related procurement
  • Assuring the compliance with the processes (related administration, procurement etc.)
  • Care for the technical background of the mission, including offices and IT

Suitable candidate for this position should:

  • Be fluent  in English both spoken and written, Russian on working level proficiency
  • Having proven experience in emergency context, in fast pace environment
  • Have very good organizational skills
  • Have good communication skills, be able to support and supervise local team and suppliers
  • Have experience in logistics, particularly in IT, office management and fleet management is an advantage
  • Be culturally sensitive with interest in the humanitarian work and its principles
  • Be independent, stress resistant, organized and reliable, easy going and having good team spirit
